Replace encoder in X-keys Jog & Shuttle

Hi,

i would like to replace the encoder in my legacy X-keys Jog & Shuttle.
The one from PI Engineering is rastered (or stepped?) and i would love a smoother one that i can just give a push and it keeps going.

I have this one with a really nice solid knob that i harvested from a Fairlight controller:

How would i connect this electronically to the X-Keys?
I also have an X-Keys brain that i could use instead but i would prefer to connect it to the X-keys Jog & Shuttle directly.

Re: Replace encoder in X-keys Jog & Shuttle

Unfortunately, this will likely not work to just connect it. The board was designed specifically with the jog and shuttle that is built in and it is in no way considered replaceable.

Please note that the matrix encoder board, if that's what you mean by X-keys brain, will not support any kind of analog control like a jog and shuttle.

Re: Replace encoder in X-keys Jog & Shuttle

That is sad news. I'll find another option then.

Yes i meant the matrix encoder board. I actually thought i could connect an encoder to that one.
This is not the biggest issue though but good to know. Thanks for the info!
