Upgrade Instructions

In order to update the firmware, this utility will be cleaning out all of the programming in the XK-24 before reloading it.  If anything should interrupt the process, the XK-24 may be left in and unrecoverable state. To prevent this, we recommend the following.

  1. Download the Pi3 upgrade file and unzip the three files it contains to a common directory on your PC.
  2. Save a backup copy of your MacroWorks 3 script in an easily accessible location using the Save As option under the File Menu in MacroWorks 3.
  3. Turn off all running applications including MacroWorks 3.
  4. Make sure you have only one XK-24 plugged in.
  5. Unplug any other X-keys devices.
  6. Once you start the utility, don’t try to stop it or do anything else until the update is complete.
  7. Start XK24Upgrade.exe by double clicking on it.
  8. Click the "Upgrade Firmware" button.
  9. Wait approximately 1 minute for the upgrade process to finish.  The progress bar will give a rough time estimate and the cursor will be an hourglass during the upgrade.
  10. If upgrade was successful the message "XK-24 vXX successfully upgraded." will be displayed at the bottom of the form where XX is the version number and should match the version number given in the title of the form.
  11. If the upgrade was unsuccessful the message "XK-24 upgrade failed." will be displayed.  Please contact us.
  12. You may delete the upgrade utility and accompanying files when finished.
